Audio Journalism

In Fall 2021, I participated in an Audio Journalism class (MEJO 252) at UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media. The class gave me the unique opportunity to sharpen my on-air reporting and audio editing skills. Below are a selection of projects I produced and contributed to during the course of the semester.

The Academic Activist Podcast Pilot Episode. This pilot episode gave me the opportunity to expand the profile I produced on The Carolina Review. Good Morning Chapel Hill Episode One. During my time in the class, I would often contribute to other projects. I followed the bill closely during my first summer with Qué Pasa and shared my insights with host Kelly Kendall during the episode. Script by Kelly Kendall. Edited by Kelly Kendall and Pete Villasmil.

Profile on UNC’s Krasno Global Affairs and Business Council. The Krasno Global Events Series has been enhancing UNC students’ knowledge of global affairs for almost a decade. The lecture series, which brings distinguished scholars and diplomats to campus to discuss international relations, saw increased viewership and international success during the height of the pandemic. Here, I cover the organization’s biggest event since before the pandemic. The in-person Krasno Lecture Series event included commentary from a former President & CEO of BMW and the Chief Economist for Bloomberg Economics and was moderated by Dr. Klaus Larres. Written, edited, and produced by Pete Villasmil.
